Progress - Week of July 6

Apologies for not a lot of pictures...the batteries in the camera were dying.

Over the past week we made ok progress. The plumber finished installing the radiators and started laying out the pex for the radiant floors in the master bedroom and bathroom. I believe the hope is to have our plumbing inspection this week.

In the rental, unfortunately none of the remaining structural work has commenced, so it looks like that will bleed into this coming week.

We shored up one of the party walls in the kitchen but we still need to re-pack the brick in one other location.

The floor guy has put down the floor in the second bedroom on the 4th floor (picture below) but we still need to lay the white oak in the playroom. The hickory was ordered last week and that may be on site this week although I am not sure it will be installed.

The basecoat of the new facade on the extension has been applied and we may have the finish coat on there by the end of this week.

A tree pruner came to the house today and also took down a lot of the overgrowth in the backyard as well as some strategic pruning in the front.

Now for the pictures...

We had two arborists selectively trimming back the trees in the backyard. For the maple in the back, these guys climbed the tree up to about 30 feet high on branches which frankly did not look very thick. After they were done, it was amazing how much light was actually coming through and it also revealed how crappy our fence is. Before any environmentalists go crazy with our apparent de-forestation of Brooklyn Heights, selective harvesting of trees will promote the growth of healthy and potentially sunlight-starved trees. As for the clippings and cuttings, we turned the branches into clubs and will use them to maim baby seals.

The restoration effort continues. We've moved from a chemical paint-removal application to heat. Below is one of the doors leading into the parlor from the hallway.

The doors are starting to get hung. These 5-panel doors are on the master floor (3rd floor).

A shot from the inside of the master bedroom.

And a shot of the 4th floor where we have a 3-panel door.

The new floor in the second bedroom...

I hate to project what will be on tap for the coming week but I suspect a new member of the Karp clan.
